The National Security Agency's (NSA) cyber-security chief has proposed a National Software Assurance Center dedicated to detection of backdoors and logic bombs in large software applications.
NSA information assurance director Daniel Wolf told the House Select Committee on Homeland Security that the government must have the capability to detect malicious software routines designed to hide in critical applications.
His proposed federally-funded think tank would include representatives from industry, government and the "national security community" to share techniques, all with the goal of protecting critical infrastructure from the malicious code.
