ASIS International has developed a Threat Advisory System Response Draft Guideline (TASR) designed to assist companies in complying with the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) threat advisory levels.
ASIS had crafted an incremental process, with each successive color building upon its predecessor, to augment the advisory system.
"The TASR will help DHS build a baseline understanding of what the private sector can do to fulfill its responsibility to help protect our nation's critical infrastructure and business base." says Robert Liscouski, assistant secretary for infrastructure protection at DHS. "The ASIS guideline will be extremely helpful to the private sector. It is easy to understand and implement."
The objective of the TASR is to balance the need for a tool that is both applicable and understandable to the private sector. It is also intended to provide sufficient detail to be of practical use to the general public.
ASIS used a voluntary, non-proprietary, and consensus-based process to write the guideline. The committee received input from the DHS and the General Accounting Office (GAO) and the Financial Services Sector Coordinating Council for Critical Infrastructure Protection and Homeland Security (FSSCC).
The TASR Guideline is available for a public review and comment period of 60 days, ending Jan. 24. To view or download the document, go to www.asisonline.org/guidelines/guidelines.htm
